Call For Extended Abstracts

The joint workshop on HCMDSS (High Confidence Medical Devices, Software, and Systems) and Medical Device Plug-and-Play (MD PnP) Interoperability provides a forum for the presentation of research and development covering all aspects of high integrity medical devices, software, and systems, which is essential to support innovative networked medical device systems to improve safety and efficiency in health care.

The purpose of the HCMDSS/MD PnP workshop is to provide a working forum for medical device specialists, including researchers, developers, and caregivers, from clinical environments, industry, research laboratories, academia, and government with the goal of advancing science, technology, and practice to overcome crucial medical devices. software, and systems issues and challenges facing the design, manufacture, certification, and use of medical devices.

The workshop will feature a number of presentations outlining current and future directions for the development of the HCMDSS and MD PnP fields, as well as recent advances in the state of the art, with perspectives from government, industry, and academia. These presentations are being invited by the organizers, as well as selected by the Program Committee from the technical papers submitted to the workshop.

In addition to these full-length presentations, HCMDSS/MD PnP'07 welcomes the submission of extended abstracts that reflect work in progress, discuss challenging open problems, and explore collaborations with other related areas. The authors of accepted abstracts will have a chance to present their work in the form of short presentations or posters.

Extended abstracts should not exceed 3 pages (750 words). PDF format is preferred, but MS Word and PostScript are also acceptable. Extended abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to hcmdss@cis.upenn.edu no later than April 20.
